Weekly Picks #7

Hey guys, so sorry I've not posted half as much as I usually do but revision has really taken it's toll and I'm super busy the majority of the time, thankfully my last exam is next Tuesday so roll on Thursday I'll be back on track (giving myself Wednesday a break it if I need it ;)).
Today's post is my weekly picks, I really enjoy doing these as they really show you what I've been rating in a week and to give you some ideas of what to try.

Nail Envy, OPI, Burt Bees, Maybelline, Soap and Glory, Max Factore
 photo SwatchesofMaybellineSoapandGloryMaxFactor_zps857e2668.jpg
1. Superdrug 20 Nails Polish Remover Pads (Acetone Free) | This is such a random favourite, but I generally get my nail polish remover from Superdrug and just use cotton pads to take of my polish but when we went to Plymouth I totally forgot to take off my nail polish and wanted a change, so I picked these up. I loved the fact that they were acetone free and I found that they removed glitter much better than other ones I've tried. I can literally use one or two for both hands, the only negative is that they make your hands somewhat greasy.
2. OPI Matte Nail Envy | When I've not wanted to wear nail polish I've just this. It gives you a natural look, as it's matte, but it protects my nails. It really strengthen them, which I need with work and I love it as much as the original. They are both perfect bases.
3. Soap & Glory Hand Food | If you haven't noticed a pattern by now, I've really been looking after my nails (and hands) this week as they've both before really dry and sensitive. This is definitely my favourite hand cream out of all the ones I use and I'm almost finished. Definitely be repurchasing, it leaves your hands soft and supple.
4. Burt Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream | The last hand/nails product of the week is the Burt Bees Cuticle Cream, it smells lovely and it works a treat on your cuticles. My cuticles have been really sore and dry so literally four or more times a day I whip this out and lather my cuticles with it. It makes them look so much healthier and softens them to be able to push them back and just generally look better again. This is another repurchase once I've finished, unless you can suggest another great one ;).
5. Maybelline Color Whisper in Mocha Muse | I got this in my Canadian swap and I'm so sad that these aren't available in the UK, I've only tried this one and it is absolutely beautiful. It is so soft to the lips and it applies lovely. This is a lovely nude shade, that has very subtle hint of shimmers in it that aren't noticeable on the lips but give a beautiful glisten. It gives nice hydration to your lips and it is such a lovely product. I really hope I can get more to try in future swaps, as I think I'll prefer them to my Revlon lip butters! Review coming soon.
6. Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick in Fuschia-Ristic | My favourite smell in the world is vanilla, and this has the most mouth watering sweet vanilla scent. I love the colour, the feel on your lips and just the product in general. Reviewed.
7. GOSH Growth Mascara (The Secret of Longer Lashes)* | I don't really want to say too much as I'm reviewing it over the next week or so, but it is one of the best mascara I've tried in a while and I've been reaching it all week! Review coming.
8. Max Factor Face Infinity 3 in 1 Foundation in Light Ivory* | This is one of my favourite foundations I've tried, it gives great coverage and lasts all day. It looks flawless on and blends beautifully to make it look like your own skin. My only issue is I find you do still need concealer for some of the trouble areas. Would you like a review?

What have you guys been loving this week?

Clarins | Splendours Colour Quartet and Eye Liner Palette

With Summer around the corner, my favourite things is definitely falling in love with all the new make up that comes out. Summer collections are from big bright bold colours to more neutral colours. My favourite colour palette for the season is golden, and bronzed, colours and this is because the sun really hits the colours and bounce to make you glow. Also, being lucky with blue eyes gold and bronze colours really compliment them. Clarins are a brand that bring out some beautiful collections, and I'm sure you saw my review of the Clarins Splendours Summer Bronzing Compact (if not click here ;)). Today I have the Clarins Splendours Colour Quartet & Eye Liner Palette to review for you. It is a beautiful eye shadow quartet, that has perfect colours for summer, with an eye liner as well.

The packaging is beautiful, with the same kind of design as the Splendours Summer Bronzing Compact, as well as a lovely velvet pouch to keep it protected.
Once your open up the palette, there is a great sized mirror, and four beautiful eye shadows and 5 as well.
The eye shadows that they put in the palette work so well together, there are 3 beautiful shimmer shades and they included a lovely matte brown shade as well which will bring it all together. The eye shadow first up is a beautiful golden colour, that reminds me of a rusty orange gold, it has golden shimmers running through it. The next shadow is my favourite shade, it is a shimmery champagne colour, that highlights the eye beautiful and can be used as a great brow bone colour. The third shade is the matte of the three, and it is a lovely medium brown colour, it works as a lovely crease colour to bring all the shadows together. The final colour is a lighter brown shimmery colour, that leans towards a rose golden colour. All four of the eye shadows are amazingly pigmented, a little goes a long way, but they blend out so lovely as they are super soft to touch.
The eye liner in the palette is a dark beautiful purple kind of colour, in the palette it looks like a matte black but once swatched you can really noticed the deep colour learning towards purple. It is highly pigmented, can be blended out and lasts so long. It loves perfect with the other colours to add a dimension to the looks.

All together the Clarins Splendours Colour Quartet & Eye Liner Palette is a perfect palette for the Spring to Summer months, and you can really create so many beautiful looks with it.
You can pick it up at Clarins counters for £31*, or on their website here.

Top 5 mature ladies style icons

Think we’re living in a youth-obsessed world? Think again. There has never before been such an incredible array of style icons for older women. From movie stars to fashion designers, we see red carpets graced with stylish ladies of all ages, and we cn learn something from all of them. Here are a few of the best, so get inspired, then nab a bit of their effortless chic by checking out isme’s choice of evening dresses.

Helen Mirren

This lady’s glamorous get-ups on the red carpet regularly top fashion critics’ best-dressed lists, but she often goes for a simple, approachable style. Not that she’s afraid to take risks – for a case in point check out her punk-pink hair at the Baftas in 2013. We may be jealous of her glorious figure, but she is a lady who epitomises the idea of ageing gracefully.

Diane von Furstenberg

The lady who single-handedly gifted us the fashion wonder that is the wrap dress seems to exude style without even trying. With her Mediterranean looks and glossy hair, the much-loved fashion designer always looks understated and healthy. She often goes for strong colours and prints when dressing for an event, but leaves her hair and makeup natural.

Diane Keaton

Remember the moment when this actress took to the red carpet in a man’s suit, complete with bowler hat? Well, whatever you thought of that look, it was the very definition of iconic, and it challenged ideas about the way women are expected to dress. Diane still chooses suits as a reliable style choice, though she also rocks a dress with enviable chutzpah.

Susan Sarandon

The auburn-haired beauty has been wowing us on the silver screen for decades, and she continues to do so on the red carpet. She’s adept at choosing shapes that suit her curvaceous figure, often favouring structured designs and tailoring.

Iman

As a model, Iman knows a thing or two about fashion, but growing older hasn’t stopped her. Being married to classic chameleon David Bowie, she could be in danger of sinking into his shadow, but she never allows that to happen. She often goes for full-on glamour but with a chic, polished edge, showing off her incredible hair and skin with dramatic makeup and statement jewellery.

Dior | Healthy Glow Awakening (Rosy Glow) Blush

Hey guys if you saw my weekly picks on Sunday then you knew this post would be coming soon. I recently did a beauty swap with a lovely Canadian beauty; lovely Sara from The beautiful world of Lenny B and Girl About Lipstick and this bad boy was in it. Out of everything she sent this has to be my favourite. It is a perfect bright, matte, pink for a pop of colour this spring and going onto summer.

Rosy Glow is special in that it is meant to react with the moisture in each skin type, giving a delicious and subtle blush to the cheeks. When applied, the initially fresh, light colour develops into a rosy blush to suit each individual complexion, for an ultra-natural, tailor-made healthy glow that is meant to last all day.

The packaging is beautiful, housed it Dior's regular lush velvety pouch, and the blush has a stunning silver mirrored casing. Once open you can see the perfect pink blush, with Dior textured on it, a little brush (which I will never use...) and a good sized mirror.
The blush is nicely pigmented, although could be seen as a little soft, but it also builds to a higher coverage. I think it gives me a natural pink flushed face, but when I build it it definitely gives more of a pop of pink to my cheeks. It lasts all day, without budging, and still looks as good as when I first applied it. I love the fact it's matte, because it can blend to a really natural look but also more of an obvious blush. It is becoming one of my most reached for blushes and I'm so glad that Sara picked it up for me.

I'd definitely recommend it for the price!
